Ti Rakau Narrative Assessment

Learner: Suri                 Learning Coach: Talia Morgan        Date: 6th September 2016
Learning Area: iExperience - Ti Rakau
Learning Observed
Suri was keen to use the Ti Rakau again today. She mentioned that she had done it before last year with another learning coach but couldn’t remember much. Suri was very engaged and as she did each trick they slowly came back to her. She even extended herself by learning new, more difficult tricks such as flipping and switching with your partner.
Evidence of learning

Suri has mastered the flip trick. Can she master the partner switch trick next?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Suri is developing her Capabilities in using ti Rakau. She was able to listen to the beat of the music and go along with it. She was trying all the moves and all the tricks, insisting on mastering them (Participating and Contributing). Suri was sharing the ti rakau with her peers, without being reminded (Relating to Others). Suri persevered when she wasn’t getting a trick, continuing to practice calmly (Managing Self).
Next Learning Steps
  • Master the partner switch trick
  • Practice with own Ti Rakau at home
  • Share learning with home
